Technology
Here are some ideas I am planning out:
Vehicle
The vehicle could be one of several options. One thought is a rental car, in which case I would get a full size-sedan to maximize comfort.
My other idea is to seek sponsorship from an auto manufacturer who would like to promote some new green vehicle or another. My only concern with this idea is that I may get a vehicle that is not comfortable for such a long haul. Corporate sponsorship would be cool though!

CB Radio
I have a CB radio and antenna now. The antenna is a magnet mount so I can attach it to the travel vehicle. I’ve found that CB isn’t used that much anymore, but it sure makes the car look uniquely nerdy.

GPS
I work at Garmin, so I’m sure I’ll be taking something from the Garmin nuvi series. Besides saving me from getting totally lost, the new ones show the speed limits, which should be very valuable considering the number of jurisdictions I’ll be driving through.

Road Atlas
Even with all the latest technology, I’ll definitely have the 2009 Rand McNally Road Atlas with my path marked in highlighter as my ultimate fallback.

Camera
I don’t plan on trying to take snapshots while I’m driving, but one of the other trips (linked on the right) mounted a camera to do time lapse over their entire trip. I’m not sure if this is worth it or not. Another thought is that I could upload the pictures periodically over a cell phone. I’m not sure how cool this would be since people can just go to Google Streetview and see the same pictures.

Cell Phone
I plan to update my blog by dictating it to whoever I can convince to take my calls for a week. I’ll definitely need an earpiece for this trip, as I plan to be on the phone quite a bit to whittle away the hours. I still haven’t decided on which phone I will take. It probably depends on what options I have available.
